Project overview
Hampden Bank is revamping its digital services by adopting the Oracle Banking Digital Experience (OBDX) system. Given that OBDX's extensive features might be overwhelming for their clientele, I was brought on board to lead a design team of three. Our mission is to work closely with the client and their development partner to simplify and restructure the platform's features, ensuring they meet both business goals and customer expectations.
Business context
Hampden Bank isn’t a typical high-street institution. With a heritage of offering tailored and competitive financial products, the bank is synonymous with trust and personal service, qualities reflected in its high Net Promoter Score (NPS). However, the rapidly evolving landscape of digital-first banking meant that even a prestigious institution needed to close the gap between its existing offerings and market expectations.
Key problems to solve
User-centric transformation
Reimagine the digital banking experience to reflect a modern, functional aesthetic while still honoring the unique, trust-based relationship between the bank and its clients.
UK market adoption & system integration
Adapt the global Oracle OBDX system to meet specific UK market needs and compliances. This required an in-depth understanding of system documentation and operational requirements.
Expanding the target audience
While retaining its loyal clientele, the bank aimed to attract a broader demographic, including tech-savvy family members looking for a contemporary banking solution.
Highlighted design approaches
Competitors - Market analysis
Focused on market trends and best-in-class practices, we conducted a deep dive into the competitors’ strategies, strengths, and weaknesses in their digital offerings. This approach allowed the design team to create benchmarks that helped us evaluate insights needed to ensure we deliver on the vision Hampden sought out.
